Vanja is a highly experienced dancer both in open and in close embrace. She enjoys dancing with people with different and even controversial styles and her proficiency in the various ways of dancing along with her sophisticated musicality has made her one of the better known female dancers in the US.
Her dance style is characterized with fluidity and sensual elegance, which she passes on onto her students. Coming from a competition ballroom background and having been part of the tango world for the last 9 years, Vanja has a profound knowledge about movements and partner connection. She is a sought after lead who has been teaching group and private classes in tango on her own for the last 7 years.
Vanja's analytical inclination of a finance graduate combined with her constant striving for improvement has lead her to develop a method of teaching based on raising her students awareness about the general structure of tango, breaking down steps into separate components and explaining the body mechanics behind those, as well as showing ways of manipulating the elements in order to vary the outcome. Besides, she concentrates on creating a comfortable embrace for leads and followers, security and precision of movements and musicality.
Vanja and Alexis are very analytical, detail orientated teachers. Their main concentration is on the technique needed to lead or follow any move in a way that is truly comfortable for the partner and for oneself.
Their dancing can be characterized as a playful "nuevo" style done in both open and close embrace. For many years each of them profoundly studied the "traditional tango" before turning their interest to more contemporary ways of tangoing.
Vanja and Alexis have studied with a multitude of teachers from all over the world and now engage in exchanges with numerous instructors in order to improve the quality of their teaching.
